Croatian Prime Minister and the new Minister of Transport Hajdas Doncic met with representatives of one of China's biggest shipping companies, COSCO – China Ocean Shipping Company on Monday, reported daily newspaper Vecernji list.
However, the talks were not to do with shipyards in Croatia but, about possible Chinese investment in the development of Rijeka port and the construction of a railway line Rijeka-Zagreb-Koprivnica-Botovo. The project is estimated to be worth around 3 billion Euros.
"Its time Croatia stopped talking and implemented some concrete infrastructure projects. Above all, I am talking that the reconstruction of existing railway lines, but also the construction of new lowland railway lines in a concession type model," said Doncic, who added that it would take at least two years to prepare the project.
